In The Godfather 2, Al Pacino is in Cuba for a deal when he witnesses a gun fight between guerillas and Police:
"these guys aren't paid anything that means they can win"

In England and the USA noone believes in anything anymore, which means that fundamentalists will keep winning again and again as we fuel their creed with hate.

If you believe in a theistic concept of God then you are two steps away from accepting the authority of someone who calls himself the son of God or his high priest. But in backward primitive societies maybe the body count will always be lower with such rigid dogma.

Comparing ritualistic Inca sacrifice with Uzbekistan torture it is easy to accept that we have not really evolved ethically at all. Given the fact that intelligence gathered from torture sessions is widely regarded as being redundant we might start to consider such torture deaths as actually being ritualistic sacrifice under a Pantheistic belief in Mammon. Faith in a theistic version of God will always be stronger even though the manifestation of God in third world societies such as Iraq and Northern Ireland will always be wrong.
